Sophie & Mitchell’s Marquee Wedding at Hurstwood

A windswept Lancashire landscape and intimate marquee wedding. 

High above the Lancashire landscape, The Marquee at Hurstwood sits amongst rolling fields and enormous skies. It is the sort of setting that changes character with the weather — sometimes sun-drenched, others romantically moody and fit for a bronte novel. For Sophie and Mitchell’s August wedding, the clouds rolled in, the hills disappeared beneath a soft grey haze and the whole scene took on a cinematic quality.

It was, in many ways, the perfect backdrop.

Sophie and Mitchell had chosen a beautifully chic wedding aesthetic: white, ivory, black and soft neutral tones, allowing the landscape and marquee itself to do much of the talking.

And tucked beside the marquee, overlooking the fields, sat Koffee & Kream.

Gelato, but make it part of the wedding

We have always believed that wedding food can be more than something guests simply eat. The best details become part of the atmosphere: something discovered between conversations, glasses of champagne and trips to the dance floor.

For Sophie and Mitchell, we created a bespoke luxury gelato experience designed specifically around their day.

Our ivory gelato trailer was dressed in sweeping white florals and greenery, with oversized arrangements cascading down one side. White lanterns and candlelight softened the base of the trailer, while our signature gold detailing quietly tied everything together.

Against the dark Lancashire sky, the pale styling looked particularly beautiful.

Rather than trying to disguise the unpredictable British weather, the setting seemed to embrace it. The contrast of white roses against charcoal clouds, green fields gave the whole installation a romantic quality. We felt entirely at home there.

The smallest details are often the ones guests remember

Personalisation was woven throughout the service.

For Sophie and Mitchell, we created bespoke edible wafers printed with their names and wedding date — a tiny detail, but one that transformed each serving into something unmistakably theirs.

There is something charmingly decadent about seeing your wedding stationery, monogram or names reimagined on dessert. It is unexpected and fleeting — which perhaps makes it even lovelier.

Each gelato became its own miniature wedding detail.

Guests could choose from a selection including vanilla, strawberry, cookies & cream and salted caramel, served from the trailer during the afternoon celebrations.

No elaborate dessert ceremony. No interruption to the flow of the day.

Simply people wandering across the grass, choosing their flavour, spotting the personalised wafers and returning to their tables with gelato in hand.

Exactly as it should be.

A marquee wedding on the tops

Marquee weddings have a particular kind of freedom.

Without the formality of a traditional ballroom or country house, the celebration can feel more personal — a little closer to the landscape and a little more reflective of the couple themselves.

At Hurstwood, that feeling is amplified.

The views stretch far beyond the marquee and, when the weather moves across the hills, you become acutely aware of where you are. The setting feels wild without being rustic; relaxed without losing its sense of occasion.

For a mobile wedding experience like ours, it is the perfect environment.

Our trailer becomes part of the landscape for a few hours — arriving as a blank ivory canvas before being transformed with florals, personalisation and details chosen specifically for each wedding.

By late afternoon, the celebration was fully underway.

The marquee glowed behind us. Guests moved between the bar, the tables and the open air. Gelato was served against that enormous grey-blue sky, with Sophie and Mitchell’s names appearing again and again on delicate round wafers.

It was romantic without being overly sweet, elegant without feeling staged.

And perhaps that is what made the day feel so memorable.

Because luxury at a wedding does not always mean more.

Sometimes it is one beautifully considered experience, styled to belong exactly where it is.

For Sophie and Mitchell, that meant gelato on the tops of Hurstwood, white roses moving slightly in the wind and personalised wafers carrying their names.

We were honoured to play a small moment in a much bigger day. 🤍
